What an exciting week for the children as they prepared for the big day. Each morning they came in excitedly asking for dots. And they dotted anything and everything that was covered in white including walls, the floor, a chair, some cushions, forks and spoons, cups and bowls and vases. Some gorgeous and creative designs were created and what was spectacular was that they were all done by the children on their own with the freedom to do whatever they liked.
Finally, Wednesday, the big day was here! The children added finishing touches and arranged their work the way they hoped their parents could view it. They were so proud and the teachers were so proud of them for showing their parents their artwork and telling them about everything they did as they looked at the various areas of the classroom showcasing their paintings, sculptures, masks and clay work.
It was such a great time watching the children share their hard work and beautiful creations with their families. Thank you so much for attending. We hope you loved seeing all the fun they had.
A Special Birthday Girl
This week we also celebrated a special birthday. Karen turned four and was excited to celebrate with her classmates. Her parents came in as well and shared a fun rhyming story and some yummy cream puffs. Thank you so much for sharing your birthday celebration with us!
Other Exciting Happenings
We ended the week with activities per the children's requests. They wanted to play with play dough and Legos and also helped pack up many of the Japanese games and toys. Many friends were interested in baking so we made apple crisp and enjoyed it for our snack on Friday. The children enjoyed it so much and some said they would like to make it at home. The recipe we used is here if you would like to make it with your child! We also had a special visitor come in and eat lunch with the children and read a book. Thank you so much, Jeff, for visiting our class. (Emma was smiling from ear to ear after you left!) There were smiles all around...the perfect way to head into spring break!
We hope everyone enjoys the break and the beautiful almost-blooming cherry blossoms. Hopefully there will be some left when school resumes so we can enjoy them as a class as well. See you all in April!
