This week continued to be all about light and ideas related to it. The children were excited to walk into the classroom to see a wooden tent. Many friends made room for each other and sqeeeezed in tight so they could all fit. They used their flashlights to peer around their environments and see what they could find!
Imagination Bottle Project
We had the chance to play with some imagination bottles this week. Teacher Wendy and Teacher Alice's Kindergarten friends made bottles (with different art materials in them) and wanted to know which kinds of bottles would be popular among our Nursery friends.
The children shook the bottles, sorted the bottles according to size, build with them and pretended to drink from them. They were so many beautiful bottles that it was hard for the children to choose their favorites! Finally, many friends chose bottles because of what was inside them (rather than the bottle size), and lots of glitter, foam animals and colored string were very popular materials !

School Yearbooks
Our Nursery friends received their school yearbooks this week. The teachers first showed the children last year's yearbook, explaining that Teacher Julie and Teacher Natalie had a different class last year. The children were so excited to point out the teachers and some PreK and Kindergarten friends that they know.
When the teachers distributed this year's yearbook to the children, the Nursery friends were SUPER excited!! They loved seeing themselves, their friends and teachers in the book!

Special Lunch Time Visitors!
This week, we had a special visitor join us for lunch....Emma's dad! Everyone was so excited to have someone special join us for lunch that friends asked Emma's dad many questions and shared their stories with him. He even treated us to a story after lunch! Thank you for joining us!!
We were also lucky enough to have Claire's grandparents, who are visiting Tokyo, come in for lunch. Thank you for joining us and for reading us a story. We LOVE having visitors in our classroom!!
Nursery End of the Year Picnic
The children had been counting down the days until our picnic which was supposed to be at Niko Niko Park. Unfortunately, the weather altered our plans a bit but the children were happy to enjoy some time together at school! They used the imagination playground to build with their friends and mommies. They also made lovely designs on plastic sheets using permanent marker as they took turns looking at them on the overhead projector. After enjoying a picnic lunch in the classroom, they took turns signing each other's yearbooks! It ended up being a fun, productive day. Thank you to all who were able to attend. We hope you had a great time!
Thank you all again for another fun-filled week. We especially want to say thank you again for coming and supporting your child and us teachers at the end-of-the-year picnic. Have a beautiful weekend!
